John Joe DONAGHY Notice

DONAGHY John Joe
Rathbeg, Cookstown
Died 9th May 2013 The family of the late John Joe Donaghy would like to express their sincere thanks to all who sympathised with them on their recent sad loss of a much loved husband, father, brother, father-in-law, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, friend and large extended family circle.
A special thanks to our many neighbours, family and friends for the kindness and support shown to us during Daddy's illness, wake and funeral. We also acknowledge and thank all those who phoned, sent sympathy/mass cards, floral tributes, made donations in lieu of flowers to Charis Cancer Care, called at the house, made gifts of food and helped with providing tea at the wake or indeed helped in any way. As a family we were overwhelmed by the support offered by friends, neighbours and the wider community.
A special word of thanks to Father Tremer PP for a lovely requiem mass and Father Deveney CC for the concluding burial ceremony and thanks to all the priests who visited John Joe while in hospital. Our appreciation also extends to soloist Mairead Conway for her beautiful singing and Patrick Slevin for the accompanying music, altar servers, sacristan and publishers of the mass booklet.
The family would also like to thank Niall A. Loughran Funeral Directors Cookstown for the dignified, professional and caring manner in which he conducted the funeral arrangements and to the grave diggers. Thanks to the Greenvale Hotel Cooktown for their help assisting with the wake and also the lovely dinner served after the funeral.
A special word of thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Royal Victoria Hospital Belfast and the Antrim Area Hospital for their dedication and professional care shown during John Joe's short illness
We also sincerely thank the Cookstown Boxing Club for the poignant guard of honour at the Church and Graveyard and all John Joe's former boxing friends for calling at the house and attending the funeral.
As it is impossible to thank everyone individually we hope this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of our gratitude.
Our Father was a special person, warm hearted, generous and kind. He was a great husband and father who touched so many lives. He held a special place in our hearts and our lives will not be the same without him. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Sacred Heart of Jesus we place all our trust in you.
The Holy Sacrifice of the mass will be offered for your intentions; John Joe's Month's Mind Mass will be in the Holy Trinity Church Cookstown on Saturday 8th June at 7.30pm
