Ronald Tuffs Notice
Mr Ronald William Tuffs of Lowgates, Staveley, has passed away peacefully in Chesterfield Royal Hospital, aged 86.
Born at Poolsbrook, he moved to Lowgates following marriage in 1963 and had recently been staying at The Willows care home in Norbriggs, Staveley.
Known as Ronnie, he lost his wife June in January. He leaves sons Julian, Nigel and Lyndon, grandchildren Thomas, Daniel, Ben, Tyla, Andrew and Antony and great-grandchildren Drew, Zack, Charley, Harper-Lee and Mason. He was pre-deceased by grandson Jordan.
Ronnie worked for 37 years at the NCB's area workshops in Duckmanton where he was a mining inspector until retirement.
He enjoyed sports and won trophies playing crown green bowling for Staveley Miners' Welfare bowling and cricket club, where he liked to socialise at weekends. In younger years he played football for Poolsbrook and was offered contracts by Manchester United and Arsenal. He also played cricket and tennis for local teams.
Ronnie liked to walk his pet dogs and enjoyed family holidays at a chalet in Bridlington. He also liked to watch wildlife programmes on television.
A service is due to take place at Chesterfield Crematorium at 12.10pm on Monday 10th December, with donations given in memory of Ronnie being shared between Dementia UK and Bluebell Wood children's hospice.
